STRAWAVE
Originally developed at BioMat Studio, University of Stuttgart, and further advanced by BioMat GmbH, STRAWave panels merge recycled agricultural fibres—including straw and coconut fibres—with bio-based resins to create sustainable, visually distinctive cladding solutions.
The fibres are individually combined with the resin and cast into custom-designed moulds, forming precise wave-patterned surfaces. Two aesthetic approaches are available:
Pigmented variants with controlled colour compositions.
Natural fibre finish, showcasing the inherent tones and textures of the raw materials as an intentional bio-design feature.
Each 400 × 400 mm panel delivers a tactile, three-dimensional surface with strong visual rhythm.
Applications
Non-structural façade cladding systems
Interior wall coverings for commercial, cultural, or residential spaces
Feature walls in exhibition or retail environments
The panels embody circular design principles, being made from recycled natural resources and engineered for material recovery at end-of-life.
