STRAWAVE

Originally developed at BioMat Studio, University of Stuttgart, and further advanced by BioMat GmbH, STRAWave panels merge recycled agricultural fibres—including straw and coconut fibres—with bio-based resins to create sustainable, visually distinctive cladding solutions.

The fibres are individually combined with the resin and cast into custom-designed moulds, forming precise wave-patterned surfaces. Two aesthetic approaches are available:

  1. Pigmented variants with controlled colour compositions.

  2. Natural fibre finish, showcasing the inherent tones and textures of the raw materials as an intentional bio-design feature.

Each 400 × 400 mm panel delivers a tactile, three-dimensional surface with strong visual rhythm.

Applications

  • Non-structural façade cladding systems

  • Interior wall coverings for commercial, cultural, or residential spaces

  • Feature walls in exhibition or retail environments

The panels embody circular design principles, being made from recycled natural resources and engineered for material recovery at end-of-life.
